Mincemeat slices
Half a jar of mincemeat left over from Christmas? Here’s an easy way to use it up.
Ingredients
4oz butter or marg
4oz white sugar
1 egg
dessert spoon of plain yoghurt
6oz self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
some mincemeat

Easy 1x1 tubular cast-on
A tubular cast-on gives an exceptionally neat, and rather stretchy, cast-on edge for ribbing. There are lots of ways of doing it, see for example http://techknitting.blogspot.co.uk/2008/01/provisional-tail-method-of-1-x-1.html for 1x1 ribbing examples (there are ways of doing a tubular cast-on for 2x2 ribbing, too).
